Materials:
Crochet hook (K)7mm
Caron Big Cakes or similar weight/ply yarn (4 medium)
Ruler (1-2 inch high) *use the same ruler for all squares
tapestry/yarn needle for weaving in ends scissors
Abbreviations:
* Slip Stitch (SLST.)
* Double Crochet (DC)
* Back Post Double Crochet (BPDC)
(Yarn over, working at the back of your work, place the hook under

1: Make a huge MC, *(Slst in MC, pull up a loop, place it onto the ruler) x 36. ( 36 loops)
2: Place your hook into the next 3 loops. Slst and 4 hdc in the 3 loops. *( Place your hook in the
next 3 loops, 4HDC in the loops) * repeat. Slst in 1 st hdc. (1 2 groups of 3 loops) (48 HDC)
3: ch3, DC in the same stitch, 1 DC in next 3 stitches. *( 2DC in the next stitch, 1 DC in next 3 stitches.) * repeat. Slst around top ch3. (60 DC) (Deep Breath! it will smooth out! Honest )
4: ch3, BPDC in same stitch. BPDC in next 4 stitches. *(2 BPDC around the next stitch. 1 BPDC
around the next 4 stitches) * repeat. slst in top of ch3 (72 BPDC)
5: ch3, DC in between the ch3 stitch and DC from previous row . *(CH1 , skip 1 stitch, DC in the next) x8. CH1 , skip 1 stitch, (2DC, ch1, 2DC) in the ch1 space of the corner.)) Repeat from * around to last corner. 2DC, ch1, in the ch1 space of the corner. slst to top of ch3. (48 stitches in row - 12 DC per side)
6: ch3, dc behind the ch3 in the ch1 space of the corner. *(( DC in next 2, DC in ch1 space, CH2, skip 2 stitches, SC in the next, ch4, skip 1 stitch, SC in next, CH2, skip 2 stitches, (2DC, ch1, 2DC) in 5th ch1 space), CH2, skip 2 stitches, SC in next, CH4, skip 1 stitch, SC in next, CH2, DC in ch1 space, DC in next 2 stitches, (2DC, ch1, 2DC) in the ch1 space of the corner ) Repeat from * around to last corner, 2dc, ch1 in the chain 1 space of the corner, slst to top of ch3. (14 DC, 4 SC per side)
7: ch3, DC behind the ch3 in ch1 space of the corner. * (( DC in next 2 stitches, ch2, skip 2 stitches, (2DC, ch1, 2DC) in next stitch. “(Ch2, SC in ch4 space, ch2, (2DC ch1 2DC) in ch1 space) “ x2. 9: ch3, DC behind ch3 in ch1 space of the corner, * ((DC next 2 stitches, (ch4, DC in ch4 space, ch4, SC in ch1 space at top of cluster) x2, ch4, DC in ch4 space, ch4, DC next 2 DC stitches, (2DC ch1 2DC) in ch1 space in corner.)) 10: ch4, TC behind the ch4 in the ch1 space of the corner, * (( TC next 4 stitches, 4 TC in each ch4 space , TC next 4 stitches, (2TC ch1 2TC) in ch1 space of corner.)) Repeat from * around to last corner, 2TC ch1 , slst to top of ch4. (176 stitches in row - 44 TC per side)
11: ch3, DC behind the ch3 in ch1 space of the corner. * ((Skip 1 stitch, BPDC every stitch (2DC ch1 2DC) in ch1 space of the corner.)) Repeat from * around to last corner, 2DC ch1, slst to top of ch3. Fasten off and weave in ends. (188 stitches in row - 47 DC per side)
