(US) Braided winter love

Here it is! My braided winter love scarf. An eight strand crochet braid. Don't you just love the look! And you can make one yourself! Free pattern, photo tutorial and video tutorial right here on my blog. Enjoy!

I used a 6mm hook for the chains and a 5mm hook to make the double crochet. My yarn matches the 5mm hook size I used one skein of Zeeman Royal (264yards). The pattern is in US terminology.

There are two ways to make the strands. You can make 312 foundation double crochet ( ch3, 311 fdc) or chain 314 ( insert hook in 4th ch from the hook and double crochet all chains). Fasten off and weave in the ends. Make 8 double crochet strands.

Connect the strands bij inserting your hook in the first chain (of the starting chain3) on top of the strand.


Single crochet into the first chain, skip 1 chain, single crochet into de last chain.
Single crochet into the first chain of the next strand, skip 1 ch, single crochet in the last chain. Repeat until you connected all 8 strands. Fasten off.



Now let's start braiding!

Devide your strand into two groups of 4.

The outher strand on the left side wil always go 'over, under, over'.


Now you have 3 strands on the left side and 5 on the right side.
The outher strand on the right side will always go 'under, over, under, over'.




Try to braid them as tight as possible. Repeat the two steps to the end.

When you are done braiding, you can crochet the ends together, just like we did when we connected the strands in the beginning. Fasten off and weave in the ends.

All that's left is fringe!
I used two strings (30cm) per fringe.
On each side I cut 32 strings to make 16 fringes.

(US) Dazzling CAL 2 colors (whole) pattern

The CAL has ended! I have seen some lovely creations coming by. If you haven't made the Dazzling shrug yet, here's the whole pattern. Join the  Facebookgroup  for questions and support! Stitch markers can come in handy Sizes: The pattern has been designed in a way that any size (S to XXXL) can be made. Put your arms up ( Like your an airplane) and let someone else measure from elbow to elbow. That's all you need to know to make your own custom dazzling shrug! You'll be using these measurements in the 3rd part of the CAL. At the end of part 3, your "square" will be elbow to elbow. The Yarn: The yardage is based upon the number of skeins we needed for the sizes. We recommend to use yarn suitable for hook size F/5 and G/6.
