Versatile Chique Blanket Square #2 Loops & OSS

Materials:
Crochet hook (K)7mm
Caron Big Cakes or similar weight/ply yarn (4 medium)
Ruler (1-2 inch high) *use the same ruler for all squares
tapestry/yarn needle for weaving in ends scissors


Abbreviations:
* Magic Circle (MC)
* Slip Stitch (SLST.)
* Chain (CH)
* Single Crochet (SC)
* Half Double Crochet (HDC)
* Double Crochet (DC)
* Triple Crochet (TC)
* Off Set Stitch (OSS)
(Make a DC in the marked stitch, yarn over, *(move the hook in between
the space of the DC and the previous DC. yarn over, pull up a loop)
* repeat 2 times.Yarn over. Leaving 2 loops on the hook, pull through
The loops. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops)
* Front Post Double Crochet (FPDC)
(Yarn over, working at the front of your work, place the hook under the
marked stitch, yarn over,
pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2, yarn over, pull through 2. )


* Back Post Double Crochet (BPDC)
(Yarn over, working at the back of your work, place the hook under
The marked stitch, yarn over,
pull up a loop, yarn over, pull .through 2, yarn over, pull through 2.)
* Front Post Half Double Crochet (FPHDC)
(Yarn over, working at the front of your work, place your hook under
the marked stitch, yarn over,
pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through all three loops)


* Back Post Half Double Crochet (BPHDC) (Yarn over, working at the
back of your work, place your hook under the marked stitch, yarn over,
Pull up a loop,
yarn over, pull through all
three loops)


* Loops (Loop)
(Slip stitch and pull up a big loop to fit over the ruler, place it on the ruler,
Remove your hook and tighten the loop to be snug on the ruler.
Place your hook in the next stitch, slip stitch and
pull up a loop and place it on the ruler and repeat.)
* Back Loop Only (BLO) Only crochet a stitch in the back loop.


Attention! ​This pattern has 2 options. No hand crochets the same, but
every square must be the same size. Option A is rows in DC, option B
is the same rows, but done with HDC, to get sizing right. Keep checking
The size of your other squares to see what option you’ll
need to pick.


Pattern:


Row 1:  MC, * (sl.st in the MC, pull up a loop, place it on the ruler) x 36 (36 loops).








Row 2: Insert hook in the first loop, sl.st, ch1, HDC in 1 st loop. HDC every loop. Slst in the first HDC. (36 HDC)










Row 3: Ch3, DC behind the ch3 in the space between the 1st and the last HDC stitches. 1 DC in the next 9 stitches. *((2DC, ch1 , 2DC) In the space between the  9th and the 10th HDC stitches. 1 DC in the next 9 stitches) * x3. 2DC, ch1, in the space between the HDC stitches. Slst in the top of ch3. (52 DC in row - 13 DC per side)




Row 4: Ch3, DC behind the ch3 in ch1 space of the corner. BPDC x 13. *(( 2DC, ch1 , 2DC) in the ch1 space of the corner. BPDC x 13) * x 3. 2DC, ch1 in ch1 space. Slst in top ch3. (68 stitches in row - 17 stitches per side - 4 DC, 13 BPDC)


Row 5: Ch3, DC behind the ch3 in ch1 space of the corner. Skip 1 stitch. OSS x 8, *((2DC, ch1, 2DC) in the ch1 space of the corner, skip 1 stitch, OSS x8) * x3. (2DC ch1 in ch1 space) slst in top ch3. (48 stitches in row - 12 stitches per side - 8 OSS, 4 DC)



Row 6: Ch3, 2DC behind the ch3 in ch1 space of the corner. Ch1, skip 2 stitches, 1 DC between OSS and DC. (Ch1, DC in between OSS) x 8. Ch1, skip 2 stitches. *((3DC, ch1, 3DC) in ch1 space of the corner. Ch1, DC between OSS and DC, (ch1, DC in between OSS) x 8, ) *x3. 3DC, ch1 in the ch1 space. Slst in top ch3. (60 stitches - 15 DC per side)


*** ROW OPTION ***

Row 7 A: Ch3, DC behind the ch3 in ch1 space of the corner. DC in the next 2 stitches. (DC in the ch1 space, DC in the next stitch) x 9, DC in the ch1 space. *(( 2DC, ch1, 2DC) in the ch1 space, DC in the next 2 stitches. (DC in the ch1 space, DC in the next stitch) x 9, DC in the ch1 space. 2DC, ch1 in the ch1 space, sl st in top of ch3. (126 stitches - 29 DC per side)

Row 8 A: Ch3, DC behind the ch3 in ch1 space or the corner. BPDC x 29 *(( 2DC, ch1 , 2DC) in the ch1 space. BPDC x 29) * x 3. 2DC, ch1 in ch1 space. Slst in top ch3. (132 stitches - 33 DC per side)


Row 7 B: Ch2, HDC behind the ch2 in ch1 space of the corner. HDC in the next 2 stitches. (HDC in the ch1 space, HDC in the next stitch) x 9, HDC in the ch1 space. *(( 2HDC, ch1, 2HDC) in the ch1 space, HDC in the next 2 stitches. (HDC in the ch1 space, HDC in the next stitch) x 9,HDC in the ch1 space. 2HDC, ch1,in the ch1 space, sl st in top of ch2.
(126 stitches - 29 HDC per side)

Row 8 B: Ch2, HDC behind the ch2 in ch1 space in the corner. BPHDC x 29 *(( 2HDC, ch1, 2HDC) in the ch1 space. BHPDC x 29) * x 3. 2HDC, ch1 in ch1 space. Slst in top ch2.
(132 stitcher in row - 33 HDC per side)



Row 9:  ((Pull up 2 loops in the ch1 space. (slst, loop, slst, loop in ch1 space x2). Pull up a loop in all stitches till you reach the ch1 corner space. (slst, loop x4 in Ch1 space) repeat (148 loops in row - 37 loops per side)




Row 10:  Slst, HDC in next loop, HDC in next 36 loops. Ch1, *((HDC in next 37 loops) x3. ch1)*x3. Slst in the 1 st hdc. (144 stitched in row - 37 HDC per side)








*** ROW OPTION ***

Row 11 A: ch3, 2DC behind the ch3 in ch1 space, DC in the next 35 stitches. *((3DC, ch1 , 3DC) in the ch1 space, DC in the next 35 stitches. ) x3 (3DC, ch1 In the ch1 space, slst in the top of  ch3. (172 stitches - 43 DC per side)



Row 12 A: Ch3, DC behind the ch3 in ch1 space. BPDC x 43 *(( 2DC, ch1, 2DC) in the ch1 space. BPDC x 43) * x 3. 2DC, ch1 in ch1 space. Slst in top ch3. Fasten off and weave in end. (188 stitches - 47 HDC per side)




Row 11 B: ch2, 2HDC behind the ch2 in ch1 space, HDC in the next 37 stitches. *((3HDC, ch1, 3HDC) in the ch1 space, HDC in the next 37 stitches. ) x3 (3HDC, ch1 in the ch1 space) slst in the top of ch2. (172 stitches  - 43 HDC per side)

Row 12 B: Ch2, HDC behind the ch2 in ch1 space. BPHDC x 43 *(( 2HDC, ch1, 2HDC) in the ch1 space. BPHDC x 43) * x 3. 2HDC, ch1 in ch1 space. Slst in top ch2. Fasten off and weave in end. (188 stitches - 47 HDC per side)
