(US) Planned pooling poncho
I bought this beautiful yarn at wolgeitwebshop. I instantly knew i would make a poncho out of it for my 5 year old daughter. Such vibrant colors! I think she will love it!But making a planned pooling poncho..That's a challenge!
I used 5 skeins of Papatya joyful 400-22 (lion brand colourwaves has similar colours and i even heard it pools the same!) I used 3.5, 4, 4.5 mm crochet hooks, a tapestry needle,stitch markers and scissors

If you haven't done planned pooling crochet before, check my 'How to' blogpost.
No yarn pooles the same. Not even the same yarn with a different dye lot will pool the same. This description is a guideline. Not an actual pattern to follow, unless you are using Papatya joyful 400-22 and can get the same color sequence as i had.
I made a L-shape cloth and moss stitched it together. The hood is made out of 2 squares.
I centre pulled my skeins. Make sure that the color sequence matches.
The L- shaped cloth:
We are going to crochet 4.5 color sequence in moss stitch.
Starting chain must be at least 187 chains. Make sure that the color on your hook is the first dark green loop. In the 4th chain from the hook, 1 single crochet and chain 1. *Skip 1 chain and single crochet in the next.
Chain one and repeat *.
My color sequence is: 4 dark green, 3 blue, 4 purple, 3 pink, 3 orange, 4 light green. Repeat this sequence 4 times. Then finish your first row bij crochting half a sequence; 4 dark green, 3 blue and 3 purple.
Chain 2, single crochet (ch2 and sc are still purple) in between the two moss stitches chain 1 and repeat. Make sure you get the color sequence right every time.
Row 26: Start the Candow method!. The colors will no longer be shifting, but will be stacked. The colors of row 26 must be in the same place as the colors of row 24. You can use a bigger crochet hook, or make an extra chain at the turning chain to be able to get the colors right. You will be stacking row 26 to 34.
Row 35 to 60 is argyl again. Start shifting colors in row 35 as you would have, if you haven't stacked the colors. Now we are going work on the short part of the L shape. Don't fasten off! Just keep on pooling.
Row 61: crochet 31 moss stitches. 2 turning chain and keep on argyl pooling till you made 121 rows. Again don't fasten off!
The L- shaped cloth is ready. Fold it as shown on the pictures. Now you are ready to moss stitch it together.
Use moss stitch to crochet them together, make sure you keep using Argyl method to get this nice edge.
For the hood i crocheted 1.5 color sequence. Make a starting chain of at least 65 chains. Make sure you start with the first dark green loop on your hook.
My 1.5 color sequence is: 4 dark green, 3 blue, 4 purple, 3 pink, 3 orange, 4 light green, 4 dark green, 3 blue and 3 purple.
Chain 2, single crochet (ch2 and sc are still purple) in between the two moss stitches chain 1 and repeat. Keep going until you made 61 rows. Don't fasten off. Use a stitch marker .Take a new skein and make another square.
Time to assemble! Put the two squares on top of each other. Make sure the stitch markers are on the same side. Using moss stitch, you can crochet the top together. You can keep on using Argyl to get the nice look. Fasten off, weave in the ends. Now crochet the back of the hood using the same method. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Attach the hood to the poncho. I also used moss stitch. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Make some fringe! I cut one color for one fringe. Make a nice long chain to add as cord.
Et voila! A planned pooling poncho!
